Waking up...
On this page
Waking up starts with going to sleep. You need at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep or you won’t be a highly functioning human. Period. So get at least 6 hours. 6.5 - 7 hours is my sweet spot.
Also, set your alarm far enough away to make you get up out of bed. Ideally in another room, away from your bed. Getting up and waking up are completely different skills.
The key to waking up is to have things to do upon getting up (see below.) Sleeping in is easy when you can’t think of anything to immediately do. So have things to do.
Daily bullets
- Get up out of bed and turn off your alarm.
- Drink (chug) at least 10oz of water. Ideally 500ml (16.9oz)
- Brush teeth
- Cold water on your face. Full cold shower is even better.
- Make your bed.
- Get 10 minutes of sunlight outside
- Caffeine intake 90 minutes after waking up.
If all else fails, have a kid and I promise you will learn how to wake up more regularly and be ready for anything life throws at you.
